So, my man got back yesterday from his little trip to the states, yay! I told the girls he would be back late so they’d see him the next morning before school as we wanted to surprise them when they came home from school. I almost let Jordan in on the surprise though as I almost let it slip when the words formed in my head to try to bribe her with picking up her toys so the house would look nice for daddy when he came home for lunch. He did get home just before lunch, and I don’t think I have ever seen that kid so happy. We all really miss him when he’s gone, but more-so the girls as they worship their dad…
So anyway, Air Force Man coming home, meant gifts from his shopping at Walmart and Target (among other places as I would soon find out). The kids had asked for stuff like game-boy games, lip-gloss and pokemoncards…I told him to find me the People Magazine Puzzler book and some round clothespins to wrap loose ribbon on. I also sent him home with my wedding ring so he could take it to the jewelers to have a prong looked at, as it had a small barb on it that was catching on things.
Well, he starts unloading stuff out of his back pack and gives me my book and clothes pins, Jordan her stuff then says “They boxed up your ring since they shined it up all pretty again like new and I put it in the bottom of my backpack so I wouldn’t lose it” he digs it out, then hands me the box.
Ok, I think, that was cool, it’s like I’m getting my engagement ring all over again. I open the box….and wow, just wow…… Our 15th Wedding Anniversary was while he was gone (the 10th) so along with my pretty newly cleaned and polished ring was a diamond anniversary band, with, appropriately enough … 15 stones in it. I cried like a baby….I never expected in a million years that he would do something like that. I can’t stop looking at it, it’s like I got engaged all over again. (My friend Marla said it was really to render me speechless so I couldn’t bitch about how much it sucks to be left alone with my brood of 4 children…hey, it worked!)
I had to laugh because the first ring I got, he had the jeweler set it aside till he brought me to IA to meet his parents and get the nerve to ask me to marry him, and while he was gone, his mom went to the store and asked to see the ring as she wanted to make sure he got a nice one and not something too gaudy lol (apparently, my FIL had sent her engagement ring through the mail when he was in the service and she didn’t like it and sent it back because it was too “big” lol) So again, MIL sees my ring before I do, and so does my SIL who commented about marrying the wrong brother
(love ya liz!)
Yes, I’ve taken a picture of it best I could to show everyone. Yes, I am bragging that I have a wonderful husband who loves me despite all my horrible flaws, lousy housekeeping and overabundance of craft supplies. ( I just couldn’t help it lol) But… NO it won’t be in this post because of whatever damn upgrade wordpress has done , I can’t insert freaking pictures anymore!! Ugh!! (I know, I know, I really wanted to show it off too!!)
So, the girls get games and cards, Devin gets more funny T-shirts (LOL one of them has a farting stick figure that says FREE GAS) and I get a new ring….when I least expected it.
I’m sooo glad I spent 3 hours cleaning up the house before he came home
