You waiting on my opinion of AI this week? Alas, our satellite is bonkers right now, so I didn’t get to watch the broadcast…. This crap happened to us last fall too with the time changes, solar flares…just messes up our AFN signal, which thankfully, we only paid to buy the box, not for actually recieving programming. (which by the way, if I had to pay monthly for programming I’d have no tv because it’s take it or leave it as far as that goes.)
So, thankfully….there’s Yahoo news and Youtube. Yahoo tells me who got booted (and thank god it was Raimelle I was sick of her) and Youtube, I can just go and watch the performances.
In my mind, it’s down to just two people David Cook and that guy named Mike. Although Carley Smithson is good, I just don’t see it happening, and the cute little guy, well everything he sings sounds the same and I seriously cannot get it out of my mind Simon suggesting his singing in Theme parks with furry little animals. Heck, maybe Disney will hire him and he can sing in some cartoons…he’s got that kind of voice.
I can’t stand that Kristy Lee Cook….to me she ranks right up there with Debbie Gibson (remember her? I wanted to scream when I would hear her stuff on the radio way back when….) I think the world has had enough of pretty little blonde singers like that, don’t you? I am convinced that David Cook could sing about toe fungus and I’d love it lol

DH, the boy and I watched “I am legend” last night. And although it was a cool ass movie…just how does an Army Major afford that kind of house complete with huge basement lab, not to mention in NYC?
And too, that damn colony at the end….how is it that those evil rabid naked mole rat looking people can tear through roofs of houses and hurl themselves at cars without hurting themselves with that kind of force, yet not penetrate that wall around the colony?
Usually, it’s hubby that makes those kind of remarks, yet he didn’t this time. Guess there was just too much violence to overshadow it? I dunno….
(sorry if you haven’t seen the movie..)

Now, on to a kid story to make you smile (and we definately need one of those after the kind of week our family has had….)
The other night, around 745 I hear Jordan messing around with our front door and call out to her to come see me. When she does I see she has a jacket on and an envelope in her hand.
I ask her what she was doing and her response was “well, I have to mail something”. So, I casually ask, ” what is it, can I see it?”
She brings it to me and sure enough, it’s a “letter” “addressed” to Millsbury (that online site my kids play on) She had written her name where the return address should be and over on the right corner where the stamp should be she started to write ”To Millsbury” and the words continued down the right hand side of the envelope all the way to the bottom. Cute huh?
Well then, she points out to me that she put a stamp on the back. Um, a stamp? I turn it over and lo and behold, yep, it’s a stamp. A $4.60 postage stamp that she found on one of our desks. (don’t even know where it came from….)
She had been on her way out the door to mail her letter by putting it into my GERMAN mail box lol
Anyway,I told her that it wasn’t exactly the right amount of postage and asked her to get my wallet, as I very carefully peelled of the stamp. I knew I had the “ proper” amount of postage needed for such a letter and gave her a 1cent stamp to put on it and let her know that we don’t send mail through our german mailbox, that we needed to take it to the post office next time we went.
Well, “next time” ended being the next day…and she remembered.
I had some stuff to mail that required going to our window for postage and explained to the nice young man that the letter needed to be mailed and to check and see if we had enough postage. He looked at me kind of like I was crazy, then I winked….and he smiled. He told her that it was exactly enough postage, cancelled her stamp and let her know it would be sent out for her, that he would make sure it got there safely. He asked me to double check the address (lol) and I wrote it down for him just to be sure…our mailbox… it’s definately a keeper
I had checked our box prior so there’s not a chance of her being with me when it “arrives”….daddy will check the mail today sans kids
Later that night, we told her that the post office called to let us know that since Millsbury is a “dot.com” that they have a special code to use instead of a stamp. We told her that next time she wants to send a letter to Millsbury.com she needs to write MPS (Millsbury Postal Service) and give it to her dad to make sure it gets to the post office since he goes out there everyday and she wouldn’t have to wait to take it with mom.
Make you smile did it? It sure did us…. She turns 5 on Saturday…..
***for those of you who don’t know, we (meaning people stationed overseas) can use the Military Postal Service to send mail to each other between bases using the code MPS….
mail story…you are good, I will have to keep a mental note of that one. as for the advice you gave me for the cussing by the boys, it has worked well telling them those are adult words and they should not say them.
**** yes, I know you all caught that…Me, the mom with kids who occasionally cuss gave advice to someone else on how to get them to stop lol…but really, there really is nothing funnier than hearing my 7 year old daughter call her brother a jackass ************
