I cannot believe how much difference keeping my sink clean is making in my house. There is NOTHING that is left in or around my sink during the day and I love it!
I have no dishwasher, I think I told you before. (maybe not, I dunno….) Here’s my new dishwashing “system”
I start the day with a nice clean, shiny empty sink 
Flylady says that a dishwasher is just a holding area for dirty dishes, so, I made one lol
I have two dishpans and a dish draining rack that are stored under the sink during the day. One dishpan is just for glasses, mugs, cups..that stuff..
First thing in the morning while the kids are eating and I’m pouring coffee, I run my water in the sink and the kids put their stuff in the sink for me to wash when they are done. I don’t bother dragging out the dish drainer at this time as my sink has a big stainless steel side to it where I can put dishes as I wash them. I leave them there to dry while I check my email and take a shower. I then dry them with a towel if they need it, put them away and wipe out my sink. I then have a pretty sink until it’s time to start dinner. How? My lunch dishes go in the pans under the sink, just like they would go in the dishwasher to be washed later.
My sink is clean for the rest of the afternoon. (If I do use it, I dry it out..the sink has it’s own drying towel for each day)
Dinner time: while I am cooking, I fill up a side of the sink and clean while I cook so there isn’t a huge mess. I don’t do my lunch dishes at this time unless it’s a pot or pan I need to use for dinner. (This is also the time the dish drainer comes out.) These dishes dry while we eat. After dinner, everyone scrapes off their own plates and puts them below the sink in their respective pans. I then put away the dishes I used to cook with, and Devin takes care of the rest of the dinner dishes, to include washing and drying them, putting them away and making my sink pretty for the next morning.
He then takes any used dishtowels (I have two dirty towels and dishrag that I dirty each day at one time, of course I own a whole drawer full lol) and puts them in the washer to be washed with whatever load of laundry I do the next morning. He also gets me out a clean set.
I now start every morning with a clean shiny sink and clean dishtowels.
