Smells like…..

I’m out of coffee.  Well, out of real coffee, the German stuff I have become hooked on.  I knew I was out yesterday and remembered to send Air Force Man an email at work to pick up some more, however, my email went to his junk mail and he never got it, thus no “real” coffee for me.

Now, before you ask “why didn’t you go and get it yourself?”, I have had a sick kid home this week, so I’ve not left this house to go anywhere since Monday.  Yes, MONDAY. 

When I mentioned I had no “real” coffee, we did have some other coffee left as a “reserve”….a package of Starbucks coffee, house blend… I mentioned before I think that Starbucks coffee made as traditional regular brewed coffee tastes like shit, that’s why they make so many variations of mocha, steamed this, frothed that, drinks that are really just hot milkshakes because they are loaded with stuff… just to make that crappy coffee taste decent.  Well, I know the real reason they do it….it’s to cover up the smell.

I loaded the coffee pot last night but did not set it to go off, so when I came down this morning all I had to do was turn it on.  So, I turned it on when the kids were getting breakfast and within minutes AFM said “something stinks”.  That in itself was odd because he never smells anything  when I do, and this time, I didnt’ smell anything. (this conversation was taking place in the dining room)…I told him he’s nuts and sent him off to work, walked into the kitchen….and I smelled it.

The strong odor of cat pee, male cat pee.  Hmmm, our cat is female and where could she have peed in the kitchen and me not see it……it was not the cat…it was…..

I then conducted a very scientific test, where I walked through my house smelling the rooms, (no odors found, and if you know me I can locate a smell anywhere) then went to the kitchen and there was the smell….I then poured a cup of coffee and took it with me from room to room….and the smell followed.

I dumped the  whole pot and the cup I poured down the drain, rinsed out the coffee pot and put the grounds down the drain with water, rinsed the sink out and guess what?

The smell was GONE.

I need coffee!!  And thankfully, JoJo is feeling MUCH better today and we will be getting out.  Her fever is gone, she’s eating and has not barfed (yet lol) today.

I can’t believe that coffee smelled like cat pee.  Gross!!  The rest of the bag is in the trash, outside….
