Well, while they aren’t officially open yet, we had the chance to go to the “pre-opening dress rehearsal” for JR Rockers. Dinner was on the house, alcohol was seperate.
We started with the mozarella cheeze sticks, which after seeing the chicken wings that came out…dang I still want them wings!!
DH ordered the Smothered Chicken, it had a concoction of mushrooms, bacon and cheese all over it. I had the 10 oz Rib-eye, cause hey, if it’s free, I’m not ordering chicken lol.
Both meals came with veggie of the day (broc, caulif, carrot) mix that was good, althought I would have liked the veggies better if they had been softer.
They both also came with smashed potatoes and a garlic breadstick. They forgot to bring my potatoes, but the waitress caught onto that quick and brought them out pronto.
There was no steak sauce on my table, but the kind young man who came to check on us 2 bites into my steak asked me if I’d like some. He came right back with it. DH says this kids gonna be good at his job. He spoke well, was clean cut and looked us in the eyes when he talked to us.
Dessert, we had ice-cream nachos. Basicially, this was flour tortilla triangles baked with cinnamon and sugar with 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream plopped on it. Caramel and chocolate sauce dribbled over the top along with some chopped nuts. It was good, but again it would have been better if….it was topped with whipped cream and a cherry like the other desserts. They served it in a huge plate, and the tortillas were ackward to eat. It was good though….you know how I am… “if I made it I’d do it this way”…
The bar was open and “pay as you go”. I had the Peach Rita. Yum. It was huge! Even DH liked it.
Cost of dinner (had it come out of our pocket) was as follows:
Cheese sticks 5.25
Smothered Chicken 8.75
Ribeye Steak 13.75
2-16 oz drinks 3.00
Grand total: $30.75 for us though…. $00.00 nada, nothing.
Bar tab: $3.50
We checked out the game room. I shot hoops (I suck), played some cop game (shot all my fellow officers apparently), drove a race car (can’t seem to handle a car going 115 mph cause I died), then discovered this kicking and punching violent game called Tekken 5. I like that game. DH thought he’d be cute and play along and I beat the shit out of him twice. For a few minutes I was a sexy mean chick who could beat the snot out of anyone. It was great!!! There we were, the two of us, beating the shit out of each other like we can’t do in real life. We loved it!!
I got a menu to go and noticed the lack of a kids menu. I’m sure there is one…Minot had one if I remember correctly. I didn’t ask though, cause my boogers weren’t with us. There are view masters on the table to play with too, that was fun. Oh, and TV screens EVERYWHERE!!!
All in all, we had a nice time and I really think that when the wait staff learns all they need to it’s gonna be a great place. Oh, they are short handed too, so if anyone wants a job…….
Gotta go, I’m stuffed…I ate my whole steak!
