It’s time to fight back. I need to kill them all. Enough already!!! My kids will NOT look like hamburger after playing outside because of these flying blood suckers!!
I really don’t care if they are ND state bird, I really really want an effective method of controlling these pests…
While researching that homemade skeeter spray for the backyard, I came across this site:
http://www.mosquito.org/mosquito-information/faq.aspx
It cracked me up when I saw that they actually have an “Awareness Week” and an Awareness Bracelet for those little blood sucking flying demons.
I wonder why they chose blue for the bracelets and not RED ???
Wondering what that homemade stuff is? This is what I found….
MIGHTY MISQUITO MIX out of:
“Great Green Book of Garden Secrets” by Jerry Baker…
1cup of lemon scented ammonia
1/4cup of lemon-scented dish soap
warm water
Put ammonia and dish soap in your 20 gallon hose-end sprayer, filling balance of the sprayer jar with warm water. Apply three times a week early in the morning or late evening. Thoughly soak any small puddles or low lying areas where misquitoes tend to gather.
I’ve read on other sites, that after the first week or two you will be able to cut down on the amount of times you need to spray. ( One site said 3x a month….)
I’m going to Wallyworld tomorrow for a sprayer……
If anyone else tries this, please let me know how it works….
Hey Susan! I started this last month. Really works!

I started that amonia, lemon joy spray last month, and it has worked well so far, in fact i need to spray again today!
I just went to the BX (grr!) and got one of they’re regular small sprayers to put on the end of your hose, and figured out the math on what setting to put it on.
